BFS EST. 1971
In 1971, the original Branch Township Fire Department was built and funded by community volunteers on donated property. The first fire engine—a transfer from the Hamlin Fire Department—was provided by Mason County and delivered by County Fire Chief William Sadler. Branch’s first Fire Chief, Chuck Snodgrass, was supported by 15 volunteers. This was the makeup of Branch’s original department.
In 1995, Branch Township Fire Department became part of the Mason County Rural Fire Authority.
Today, nearly 54 years later, Branch firefighters are housed in a new station built by Branch Township residents in 2024. They have 13 firefighters cross-trained as Medical First Responders, along with a pumper, tanker, med rig, brush rig, and a side-by-side.
