ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Accessibility Statement
The Mason County Rural Fire Authority serves every resident of the communities we protect, and our website should serve everyone too. We are committed to making the information on this site, from station contacts and meeting schedules to fire safety tips and volunteer recruitment, accessible to people with disabilities.
In an emergency, always call 911. Please don’t use this website, email, or station phone numbers to report a fire or medical emergency.
Our Standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Levels A and AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), describe how to make web content usable for people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have mobility, cognitive, or learning disabilities.
To work toward that standard, we:
Write descriptive alternative text for photos so people using screen readers know what each image shows.
Use clear headings and page structure so the site can be navigated by keyboard and assistive technology.
Provide a “Skip to Content” link at the top of every page.
List station phone numbers and addresses as text, not images, so they can be read aloud, copied, and enlarged.
Choose text and background colors with readable contrast.
Review new pages and content for accessibility before publishing.
Known Limitations
Accessibility is ongoing work, and some parts of our site may not yet fully meet our goals. Some documents we share, such as reports, meeting materials, and files hosted on Google Drive, may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need any document in another format, contact us and we’ll provide it.
Our site also links to pages we don’t control, including our Facebook and Instagram accounts. We can’t guarantee the accessibility of those platforms, but we’re glad to share the same information with you directly.
Public Meetings
Fire Authority board meetings are open to the public. If you need an accommodation to attend or participate, such as a sign language interpreter, printed materials in large print, or help with physical access, please contact us at least [3] business days before the meeting so we can make arrangements.
Request Help or Report a Problem
If you have trouble using any part of our website, need information in an alternative format, or want to tell us about an accessibility barrier, please reach out. Let us know which page or document you were using and what went wrong. We’ll respond within [5] business days.
